Professor Bruno De Geest

Prof. Bruno De Geest

Bruno graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Ghent University in 2003, where he obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2006. After two years of postdoctoral research at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, Bruno returned to Ghent University. In October 2012, he was appointed Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutics at Ghent University. He secured an ERC Consolidator Grant in 2018 and an ERC Advanced Grant in 2025. His lab operates at the interface between materials chemistry and immunology and has a strong interest in engineering the immune system using functional materials that can modulate the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles of immunomodulatory stimuli and antigens. This is combined with the development of strategies to modulate interactions between immune cells and cancer cells. His research focuses on engineering innate immune activation, cancer vaccines, and T-cell engineering.
