Professor Neill Liptrott

Professor Neill LiptrottNeill holds a Chair in Pharmacology and Immunocompatibility at the University of Liverpool. His research explores immune interactions with complex medicines, biotherapeutics and biomaterials. He has led the development of methods for assessing immunocompatibility, including immune metabolic profiling and assays for innate immune activation.

He leads the Immunocompatibility Group at Liverpool, and internationally, he chairs the Safety and Characterisation working group of the European Technology Platform for Nanomedicine (ETPN) and serves as Vice Chair of the Scientific Subcommittee of the British Toxicology Society. He co-founded critical European infrastructures, including EUNCL and the Intracellular Drug Delivery Centre (IDDC), promoting the standardisation and safe clinical translation of nanomedicines. Committed to professional education, he founded Liverpool’s MSc in Pharmacology and Toxicology and continues to publish in high-impact journals, significantly influencing international regulatory guidance and safety standards for complex medicines.
