Modern Vaccines Adjuvants & Delivery Systems
The drive for the new generation of vaccine therapies has precipitated a concurrent need for new and improved adjuvantation/delivery systems for these new vaccines. This new international conference will focus on updating the community on new adjuvant/delivery systems/technologies associated with developing modern vaccines strategies and vaccine research. There is now an urgent need for the development of these potent and safe adjuvants and delivery systems and MVADS 2023 will offer researchers a fresh forum to discuss this important topic in detail. MVADS 2023 will be of interest to researchers/contributors from academic programs, industrial, governmental and regulatory groups.

Large Scale Quantitative Imaging Mass Spectrometry of Lipids using MALDI and MALDI-2 using MSI Splash
Explore the lipidome with Shane Ellis, Associate Professor, University of Wollongong. Dr. Shane R. Ellis obtained his PhD in ambient ionization mass spectrometry of lipids from the University of Wollongong, Australia in 2013. He then began two-year postdoc at FOM-AMOLF (Amsterdam) working on the development of active pixel detectors for mass spectrometry and ion mobility. In 2014 he was appointed as assistant professor within the Maastricht MultiModal Molecular Institute (M4I) at Maastricht University, where he led the Instrumentation and Application Development group. Here, he established a world-leading group focusing on the development of advanced mass spectrometry imaging methods and their application to studying localized lipid metabolism within tissues. This work included leading several large development projects with mass spectrometry manufacturers. He has pioneered the development of several methods that provide ever-greater structural detail of lipids in imaging experiments, including the resolution of structural isomers. In 2020 he moved to University of Wollongong as an ARC Future Fellow, where he is establishing a mass spectrometry imaging group within the new Molecular Horizons Institute, focusing on both advancing the technology and its application to the life sciences.

Explore the Lipidome: Neurolipidomics revealed the cause of neurodegenerative bladder in Alzheimer's disease
Explore the lipidome with Xianlin Han, Professor of Medicine, University of Texas Health San Antonio. Xianlin is an internationally-renowned investigator in the fields of lipidomics, lipid metabolism, and lipid biochemistry. He has developed expertise in broad areas of research, such as neuroscience, diabetes, and metabolic biochemistry. The mass spectrometric techniques for lipidomics developed by their group, collectively termed “multi-dimensional mass spectrometry-based shotgun lipidomics” with unparalleled high sensitivity and comprehensive coverage, have been widely used to identify altered lipid metabolism, trafficking, and homeostasis, and biomarkers under patho(physio)logical conditions. The current interests of his laboratory research focus on Alzheimer’s disease, diabetic neuropathy, and mitochondrial dysfunction in diabetic hearts. As an investigator or co-investigator on over thirty previous NIH-funded grants, he has successfully produced multiple peer-reviewed publications from each project, resulting in a total of over 300 peer-reviewed publications. His contributions have received over 34,000 citations (over half are since 2015) with an h-index of 88 (Google Scholar, 2021).
